AMIC Balearic Islands
The AMIC - Balearic Islands - Information and Communication Media was set up in 2009 aiming to be the interlocutor of the free press and digital media in the Balearic Islands.

Soon he had a continuous growth of associates, surpassing the number of thirty, of which over 10 are free publications with a combined monthly circulation of over 350,000 copies, and over 10 digital media that have more than 600,000 unique monthly users.

This strong presence on the islands encouraged the Balearic Islands AMIC- to organize a Workshop on Proximity Journalism2.0  in the city of Palma. The event was held on 4 March 2011 at the Cultural Centre "Sa Nostra", and it aimed to analyze the emergence of local journalism 2.0, to analyze the new challenges posed by the network in the world of journalism and to see how this sector is adapting to the new communication.

The event was attended by directors of digital media in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands so as to exchange experiences on the operation of their respective media. The conference was aimed at publishers, journalists, members of the organization, communication and press departments, advertising agencies, institutions and authorities among others.
